offering a free “Senior Power” Workshop.
The workshop will be
on 3 consecutive Fridays mornings –
April 9th , 16th & 23rd. “Senior Power” workshop is a very hands-on
and dynamic way to develop a repertoire of safety strategies & skills
which can be used with strangers and with people we know, in everyday
interactions as well as emergency situations. All contents and practices are tailored to
fit the needs of the group, whether participants are still very active, have
physical limitations or frailties. We will focus on what the group can do
rather than what they can’t do and support them in using strengths to help
them stay safe. Walkers and canes are welcome! Many activities are done sitting down. Spaces are limited. If you are interested in this workshop, please let Pat Smith know by February 15th
at 514-932-2326. |

Movie
of the Month – Thursday, February 11th This month’s movie will be
the comedy-drama “Julie and Julia”
starring Meryl Streep and Amy Adams, written &
directed by Nora Ephron. Julia Child
and Julie Powell, both of whom wrote memoirs, find their lives
intertwined. Though separated by time
and space, both women are at loose ends until they discover that with the
right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is
possible. In 1949, Julia Child is in
Paris, the wife of a diplomat, wondering how to spend her days. She tries hat-making, bridge, and then
lessons at Cordon Bleu. There she
discovers her passion. In 2002, Julie
Powell, about to turn 30 and underemployed with an unpublished novel, decides
to cook her way through “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” in a year. We go back and forth between these stories
of two women learning to cook and finding success. Sympathetic, loving husbands support them
both. Anyone
interested in watching this movie, make a reservation by calling the office
at 514-932-2326 so
we know how many chairs to set up in advance. |
