Out-of-Town Trip – Wednesday, May 28th

This month’s destination will be to The Laurentians, where the landscapes are spellbinding, the forests vast, and the lakes innumerable.  Our first stop of the day will be to Savonnerie Sensoriel located in Labelle owned by Louise Valiquette and Louis Béau.  This is an on-site manufacture of more than 100 entirely natural body care products, made using biodegradable oils from herbs and flowers from their garden.  It started in the Spring of 2000 with a visit of a friend from Gaspé who introduced the owners to the art of distilling essential oils by water vapour.  As they had a keen interest in gardening and horticulture as well as aromatherapy, they felt compelled by a new challenge. Their soaps became an instant hit with friends & family. All were delighted by their softness and fragrances.  The Sensoriel soap factory seeks to create its products for bathing and its essentials oils by water vapour in complete accordance and respect for the environment and its cycle and seasons.  We will have a demonstration on the fabrication of their soaps and of course , there will be time to visit their boutique.

Lunch will be at Restaurant

After lunch, we will spend the afternoon at the picturesque pedestrian village, located in the heart of the Mont-Tremblant Resort.  This colorful village is full of character, the streets lined with boutiques of all kinds and an array of reputed restaurants, bistros and bars.  There is a free gondola that you can take up the mountain to enjoy the spectacular natural canvas from above.

Day in the Park – Saturday, May 31st from 10:30-4:00

What a great opportunity to get together with family and friends for a relaxing day in our beautiful Westmount Park!  There will be games for the children and lots of interesting goodies for sale.  Pack a picnic lunch or buy on the spot from a variety of stands and styles.

Come and visit Contactivity’s booth filled with a variety of beautiful unique items handcrafted, handpainted and handknit by our very own Arts & Crafts Group.

Contactivity needs VOLUNTEERS to staff our tables and to handle other tasks to help make the day memorable.

We also need donated baked goods for our bake table which has traditionally been one of the most popular stands at this event.  Please call Barbara at 932-2326 if you can help out on Baking Day at the Centre – Tuesday, May 27th from 9:30 – 12:00 or from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.  We will supply all the necessary ingredients if you will volunteer your baking skills to help create the goodies.  However, if you would prefer to do some baking at home for us, we would be most grateful.  If you do bake at home, bring your goodies to the Centre at your convenience and we will ensure they are fresh on the big day.

Movie of the Month – Thursday, May 8th

This month’s movie selection is “The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep” starring Emily Watson, Alex Etel, Ben Chaplin and David Morrissey directed by Jay Russell.  The Water Horse is truly a likeable, funny & inspiring film with magic and possibilities.  Angus, a young boy living in Scotland during World War II, grows more and more reclusive ever since his father went off to war.  During a solitary search for sea shells on the beach, Angus finds a mysterious object on the shore.  Uncertain of its origin, he takes it home, hiding it for safekeeping.  However, when it hatches overnight, he finds himself the proud, but puzzled caretaker of a water horse – a sea creature of mythic proportions.  As the water horse grows ten times its size every day, Angus finds it increasingly difficult to keep his new friend a secret.  Join fellow members for an afternoon escape from reality to explore childhood wonder.

If you are interested in joining us to watch the movie, please call the office to make a reservation at 932-2326.
